VOUVRAY AOP (Protected Designation of Origin)

VOUVRAY IN THE LOIRE VALLEY

The Vouvray designation lies within the 3rd largest winemaking region in France, extending from Nantes in the west all the way to Sancerre in the East.

70,000 hectares of vineyards are divided into 4 vinegrowing regions: Nantais, Anjou, Touraine and Centre.

All of the colours are represented – white, red and rosé, still and sparkling alike.

Our online shop has a wide range of Loire Valley Wines available, selected from among our Cooperative Cellar partners.

The Vouvray designation area (3,000 ha, 2,200 ha of which are planted with vines under production) can be found to the east of the city of Tours, extending over 8 municipalities on the right bank of the River Loire and along its tributary, the Brenne. These municipalities are: Chançay, Noizay, Reugny, Rochecorbon, Tours Sainte-Radegonde, Vernou sur Brenne, Vouvray and Parcay-Meslay.

The vines have mainly been planted on plateaus and hillsides overlooking the River Loire and Brenne Valley, shaped by picturesque valleys and cellars hollowed out in the local tuffeau stone.
